Whistle Synth: Control a Synthesizer by Whistling, Now on the Mac App Store
Jeff Kaufman's whistle-controlled synthesizer is now free and open source on the Mac App Store. The app, which lets you play music by whistling into a mic, has been dramatically improved with help from Claude: latency dropped from 80ms to 5ms, stuttering is gone, and it now offers a variety of bass voices plus a treble drawbar organ. Kaufman details how he used AI to refactor the code, design voices, and even navigate Apple's app review process.
This is a good example of AI as a complement: I was never going to get around to doing any of this if I needed to write it all myself.

The first time I saw it, I thought about playing a drumkit and whistling a bassline at the same time, with someone else on guitar and vocals, making a full rock sound with two people. But then I was too lazy to try it.

It seems like it will be fun but my headphones just come in under the activation threshold, but I can't see a way to add some input gain
