1Password and 37signals each pledge $100K a year to Omarchy
Omarchy: 1Password and 37signals become Distinguished Corporate Patrons

The Omacom Foundation's first two Distinguished Corporate Patrons, 1Password and 37signals, are each contributing $100,000 annually for three years, boosting the foundation's funding to $12.6 million. 1Password has supported Omarchy from the start, while 37signals, which incubated the project, has already moved its technical team to the OS. The foundation emphasizes that corporate and individual contributions buy the same recognition, with no strings attached.
There’s no quid pro quo here. Omarchy will always base its decisions on what makes for the very best malleable OS in the world.

I can't even believe this. What an extraordinarily stupid decision.

How much money is going upstream? Like hyprland and arch? Omarchy is basically just a script all the work is being done by otherpeople.

There is this movie "Mickey Blue Eyes" where Hugh Grant play an auctioneer whose girlfriend is the daughter of a mafia member.
The boss of the mafia org then forces the auctioneer to offer worthless paintings and forces various people to bid high. The paintings are just required so that something exchanges hands.
This is much of the software industry in a nutshell, except that no coercion is required. Just something needs to exchange hands.

Why is this succeeding while other OSS funding initiatives have failed? These companies were just waiting to be sure their money would go to a confirmed Nazi?
