ChatGPT's web share plunges 22 points as Gemini surges
ChatGPT lost 22 points of web share in a year

New data from Similarweb shows ChatGPT's share of worldwide AI-chatbot web visits fell from 76% to 54% in a year, while Gemini jumped from 6% to 28% and Claude from 1% to 9%. The figures track web visits, not monthly users or revenue, and highlight Gemini's strength in-app and on Android.
Gemini’s 1B app MAU can coexist with ~28% web share because so much Gemini use is in-app / Android.

Gemini is actually good enough for pretty much everyone I know who is not in tech and uses Android. These people are downright pleased with Google's AI summaries.
The fact that Google can push Gemini out in so many ways with their existing marketshare is mind boggling. The fact that ChatGPT hasn't lost 50-100% of web share shows it's Google's game to lose at this point.

Worldwide AI-chatbot web visits: ChatGPT 76% → 54%. Gemini 6% → 28%. Claude 1% → 9%. This is not monthly users and not revenue.

I think it'd be more informative to see total users per provider, rather than % shares.

Stacked charts might be 2nd only to pie charts in badness.
