KizunaShelf: A Self-Hosted Media Tracker Built on Files Over Apps

After cycling through various media tracking tools, I built KizunaShelf to give me full control over my data using the 'files over apps' philosophy. This self-hosted solution stores everything as Markdown files in an Obsidian Vault, offering a flexible schema and native apps for iOS and desktop. It connects your favorite media to the specific moments they became part of your life, ensuring your data remains accessible forever without relying on proprietary servers.

Your data will stay with you forever, with or without this app.

Keeping everything local in a file structure was a big part of my attraction to:

Nice to see this approach carried forward.

This looks great. I've been trying to hack something similar on top of Silverbullet but having a dedicated app potentially using the same Markdown folder sounds much better. Will the desktop and web apps be available on your Github?

So you can access the Obsidian markdown files from the web? How are you solving that?

Via VPN or do you sync your files with a server?
