Character.AI, 파산 신청 후 Disney에 자산 매각 추진

생성형 AI 붐의 대표 주자였던 Character.AI가 미국에서 Chapter 11 파산 보호를 신청하고 자산을 Disney에 매각하는 방안을 추진 중이다. 부채는 5천만~1억 달러로 추산되며, Disney는 2천만 달러를 제시한 최우선 입찰자다. Disney는 최근 Character.AI 전 CEO Karandeep Anand를 CTO로 영입했고, 이번 거래는 인재를 흡수하는 'acquihire' 성격을 띤다. 적합한 인수자가 없으면 플랫폼은 종료될 예정이다.
“Over the past year, we’ve taken meaningful steps to sustain and improve our business amid significant legal, regulatory, and operational headwinds,” the company said.
