Scientists untangle the biology of an 'undruggable' cancer gene
전체 암의 70%에서 과활성화되는 MYC는 수십 년간 '약물로 건드릴 수 없는' 표적으로 여겨졌다. Molecular Cell에 발표된 Fox Chase Cancer Center 연구는 MYC의 추가 복제를 유발하는 조절 회로의 스위치 두 개를 밝혀냈다. MYC 자체를 겨냥하는 대신 그 상류 스위치를 공략하는 새로운 가능성을 제시한 기초과학 성과다.
“I think all roads lead to MYC; however hard you try to ignore it — it’s there,” said Dr. Marc Mansour, a hematologist and cancer researcher at University College London who was not involved in the study.
