Apple Overhauls EU App Store Fees, Cuts Commissions and Drops Core Technology Fee

Apple announced major changes to its business terms for apps in the European Union, following collaboration with the European Commission. The new unified terms replace the Core Technology Fee with a 5% commission on digital transactions outside the App Store, eliminate the acquisition and store services fees, and reduce App Store commissions to 26% (15% for most developers). Developers can also now offer alternative payment options alongside Apple In-App Purchase, with new child safety measures. Eligibility for alternative marketplaces and web distribution is expanded.

The Core Technology Fee, a per-install fee for developers that achieve extraordinary scale, will be replaced by the Core Technology Commission, a simple 5 percent commission on digital transactions in apps distributed outside the App Store.
