Israel's fake think tank pumps out AI-baiting reports to sway chatbots

The Hanover Institute for Public Policy, a fake think tank created on behalf of the Israeli government, has published over 100 articles in just over a week, seemingly designed to influence AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini. The reports mimic credible think tank output, complete with footnotes and neutral tone, and have been flagged by AI detection software as AI-written. The firm behind it, Piro Inc, has received $900,000 from Israel and boasts of its ability to shape AI narratives.

LLMs favor concrete statistics and data, as well as strong citations and sources, which these articles all have. It's a perfect mimicry of a typical credible American think tank, right down to the generic name, the site layout, and the red-white-blue color scheme.
