Rivet, an open-source orchestrator for agentic workloads, replaces the heavyweight sandbox-per-agent model with lightweight Actors backed by S3. Each Actor is a long-lived process with in-memory state, a SQLite database, WebSockets, and scheduling, starting in 4.99 ms at p99 and using just 72 KB. It hibernates when idle and needs only an object storage bucket, with no Postgres, NATS, or custom runtime required.
