Bema - Non-instant work messaging with smart nudges
Show HN: Bema: Work messaging built for humans

Bema is a work messaging app that prioritizes focus by design. Instead of constant notifications, it only alerts you to urgent Nudges, while everything else waits for your scheduled check-in. Messages stay in an Open queue until you mark them Closed, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. Flexible tags replace channels, letting you categorize messages by topic and create custom filtered views. Built for Mac with Windows and Linux coming soon, Bema offers simple per-seat pricing at $5 per seat per month after a 14-day free trial. It's ideal for teams seeking a calmer, more organized communication flow.

While I applaud the sentiment here how many people work for an organisation that would be ok giving full Slack access to something like this, especially given the complete lack of information on how that data is being processed beyond an incredibly vague mention of Cloudflare in the privacy policy?

Derrick Reimer tried this a bunch of years ago with Level. In short, it didn’t work. But many of us understand the desire for something like this.

The no interruptions thing is neat but oh god, tags?
Zulip's got the channel/topic thing right. You join the #engineering channel and then there's the "PostgreSQL migration" topic.
Any new system has to not be shit at threads like slack is.
