ReBirth 338 - Classic software synth runs in your browser
Show HN: ReBirth 338 in Browser
ReBirth 338, the iconic software synthesizer inspired by the Roland TB-303 and TR-808, is now playable directly in your browser. This port uses BoxedWine to emulate a Windows environment, letting you run the original ReBirth 338 without installation. While the initial load is heavy—downloading large binary blobs and many JavaScript shims—the result is a nostalgic trip for electronic music producers. It solves the problem of preserving legacy music software on modern systems, offering instant access to classic acid basslines and drum machine patterns. Just open the page and start tweaking.
More like Windows running in browser running Rebirth 338 (at least going by all the 'wine' in filenames) ;)

The webpage is loading an incredible amount of .js files which all look identical (https://margeux.com/rb338/boxedwine-firefox-20261103.js, looks like Emscripten JS shims), but then also loads two massive blobs (one is 100 MB, the other 150 MB). I'd at least check what's up with all those .js file downloads, that looks like a bug tbh.
First start takes very long btw on a 50 MBit connection, most time seems to be spent with this same small JS file that's downloaded many times, I'm sure this could be massively optimized.

There's an influx of vibe-coded RB clones, ports, etc. in their FB group. https://rb.varyform.info is probably one of the better ones.

In firefox I can't see the mouse pointer, I have to hit escape to get it "back" but as soon as I click something it disappears.
