Hacker Times - Hacker News reimagined as a New York Times front page
Show HN: Hacker Times, a New York Times-Inspired Version Hacker News

Hacker Times takes the firehose of Hacker News and lays it out like a classic newspaper, complete with headlines, deck-style summaries, and editorial imagery. Instead of a dense list of links, you get a front page that reads like the daily edition, covering everything from MIT CSAIL's experiments with neural-network weights to Andrej Karpathy's HackerTube video library and PostgreSQL's AI-related release delays. It's a fresh way to browse the stories the community is discussing, giving each submission the weight and context of a news feature. Just open the site and read the day's tech news as if it were print.
Why scroll through a plain list of links when you can read Hacker News like the morning paper?

wow this is revolutionary. it could change hn forever if folks would start reading at least one paragraph past the submission title before jumping into discussion.

I remember there was a similar project like this posted a while ago. Turns out there are multiple. Here are just a few (that are still online):
A couple of months ago (so probably vibe-coded too):
This one even from 6 years ago:

I like the description for Manufacturing Consent font:

Isn't what people pay for with the NYT or other publications, the journalism and editing? Like, the UI isn't why people pay for it.
Given that this seems to just be a re-skin, why a full site that updates hourly, instead of just a browser extension that rewrites the content in-place live?

I think I'd prefer NYT in Hackernews form

I don’t think the pay wall is working.

This is cool. I built an HN reader recently too - this one is inspired by the old Apollo for Reddit app on iOS:

This is great! Very readable and feels like a nice way to browse articles. I tend to gloss over stuff in the HN wall of text sometimes so this breaks the links up in a useful way. Nice job.
