Everyone Has Email. Almost Nobody Uses It Right

Email has outlasted every messenger and social network because it runs on open standards and serves as your permanent digital identity. Sergey Kaplich argues it's still the best way to reach authors, land job offers, and keep searchable records—yet most people drown in unread messages. He offers practical fixes: declare email bankruptcy, unsubscribe ruthlessly, set up filters, and search like a pro.

Email is the most important thing on the internet, and yet somehow we've collectively decided to treat it like that drawer in your kitchen where you throw random batteries, expired coupons, and twist ties.

I dislike this whole genre of “everybody is doing x wrong”. The argument almost always boils down to “I’m super smart and everyone else is an idiot”. Maybe other people just have different needs and preferences?

    > Facebook can shut down tomorrow. Twitter can rebrand itself into oblivion. But email? Email is forever.

Yet author is using Gmail, curious. Even if Google doesn't shut down, there have been many cases of unexplained account terminations.

I also wonder if author ever heard of identity management and SSO.
