Distributed Proofreaders turns public domain books into e-books one page at a time

Distributed Proofreaders, founded in 2000 by Charles Franks, is now the main source of Project Gutenberg e-books. Volunteers proofread scanned pages against OCR text in multiple rounds, then format and post-process them into e-books. With over 1,200 active users in the past 30 days, the all-volunteer community has completed titles like T.E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Registration is open, and no time commitment is required.

We hope you will join us in our mission of "preserving the literary history of the world in a freely available form for everyone to use."
