OqtaDrive turns a Sinclair Spectrum into an internet terminal with one transistor
5 years of OqtaDrive: Microdrive emulation to Sinclair Network over the internet
Five years after its first alpha, OqtaDrive has grown from an Arduino Nano emulating eight Microdrives into a gateway that connects vintage ZX Spectrum and QL machines to the internet. The Nano streams data over a serial link to a Go daemon, enabling snapshot loading, browser upgrades, ZXDB search, and CP/M support. With release 0.7.0, a tiny hardware tweak lets users SAVE and LOAD files across the world via the Sinclair Network—no modifications to the vintage machine required.
Add one transistor and four resistors to the adapter, connect to a hub server, and a friend on the other side of the world can LOAD *"n";18 what you just sent with SAVE *"n";24.
