Four Months with Zig: A Developer's Honest Take
Four Months of Zig
After returning to Zig following a few years away, I built a smallnet library and two other projects, attended a local Zig Day with Andrew Kelley, and re-engaged with the community. I share what I love—explicit allocators and IO, comptime, the build system, minimal dependencies, and fast incremental compilation—and what I'd like to see improved, especially standard library stability and lifetime diagnostics. I also draw comparisons to Rust, my previous go-to language.
It's much easier to reason about programs that allocate memory in Zig.
