CSS-Tricks Is Independent Again as Its Editor Takes Ownership
CSS-Tricks has a new owner
After DigitalOcean bought CSS-Tricks from founder Chris Coyier in 2022, the site is now independently owned by its longtime editor, who is making it a full-time job. The plan: bring back advertising and the newsletter, sell memberships and a beginner HTML/CSS course, publish one or two articles a week, and reopen guest submissions — while widening the site beyond experienced developers to anyone starting out in front-end work.
I've got the keys to the castle, so to speak. And, even after 12 years of working on the site, I'll admit I'm a little overwhelmed and nervous about that.
