Illustrator stitches six lunar datasets into a neon geologic map of the Moon

Eleanor Lutz's Tabletop Whale closes out its Atlas of Space series with a geologic map of the Moon, built from six USGS and NASA datasets that used inconsistent category names and fuzzy timescales. Rather than show uncertain ages, she colors features purely by geologic type and revives the bright neon palette of the 1970s originals. The map comes with a full code tutorial on GitHub.

The end result is a summarized geologic map rather than a precise replication of the original data.

I found this blog while making a map of the inner solar system for my wall. The dataset and code from this post proved really valuable: https://tabletopwhale.com/2019/06/10/the-solar-system.html

Thanks for whoever at HN re-submitted this submission (I think that's what happened?).
