Marc Brooker uses LLM-generated animations to show how production systems fail
Animations for System Builders
Marc Brooker, an engineer at AWS, builds animations with LLMs to give engineers an intuition for metastable failures and lost writes. He shows real traces from Postgres 16 and etcd where load spikes trigger self-reinforcing degradation that doesn't recover without intervention. One example: a Raft cluster can lose writes if a single member's storage layer lies about fsync(). The animations were generated with Kiro and KiroCrew, mostly using Opus 5.5.
A Raft cluster can lose writes if even one of the cluster members has a storage layer that lies about fsync().
