31,970 colors, each with a name invented by a person
Color Names
Color Names is a community-built, open collection of 31,970 unique color names written by people rather than generated by machines. It's free under the MIT license and ships as an npm package or through an API, with subsets for the full list, hand-picked favorites, and short names. Supporters can "adopt" a color for $5 or more and have their name attached to it permanently, one owner per color.
Pick your favourite, open it and hit Adopt this color: from $5, with your name on it for good.

Why would I pay you when I could slop out my own colour site? These kinds of things only worked in the age of things being hard. We don’t need to buy pixels anymore.

Amazing! Love the pixel art mode and being able pan and zoom around in 3D. It’s like exploring a world of colors and fun little art pieces and references, like C-3PO’s red arm.
