Postgres 19 delayed after AI reviewers find more bugs than humans can fix

The PostgreSQL Global Development Group has pushed PostgreSQL 19 to around November 19 and reverted eight to 10 significant features, including SQL Property Graph Queries. Committer Peter Eisentraut blames LLM-assisted code review: it surfaced a long tail of edge-case defects that once would have slipped through until after launch, and the team ran out of time to fix them all. He insists this isn't vibe coding, and that the extra scrutiny will make the release more robust.

With LLM-assisted code review, these kinds of things can get found much faster, and then you're staring at a list of forty defect reports. Even if each of them requires only a three-line fix on average, there is a fixed overhead to dealing with each of these, and then you run out of time.
