Withings locks Apple Health sync behind a $99/year paywall for new users

New Withings Users Must Pay $99/Year for Apple Health Syncing

Withings will require new accounts created after October 13, 2026, to pay for a $99.99/year Withings+ subscription to sync data to Apple Health. Existing accounts are grandfathered. Users argue the sync is a local HealthKit API call, not a costly cloud service, and accuse the company of a cash grab that erodes trust. Withings says the subscription funds its broader health services.

Writing data to Apple Health via HealthKit happens locally on the phone. It does not require complex cloud compute, server costs, or any "AI connector". It's a basic API call.
