Google Is Quietly Linking Your Phone Number Across Every Signed-In Account
Google is silently linking your phone number across all signed-in accounts
Google now automatically verifies and attaches your phone number to every Google account signed in on your Android device, including secondary, work, and throwaway profiles, without explicit prompts. The opt-out behavior was added to Google's support documentation between August and October 2025. Users can disable 'Verify phone numbers automatically' in Android's Google settings, but previously linked numbers must be manually removed from each account's Personal Info page.
Silently associating a phone number(s) across multiple accounts poses obvious privacy headaches for anyone who intentionally segregates their primary SIM from secondary accounts.
