Hackers Turned French Supermarket Fridges into 50C Heaters
Fridges in French supermarkets hit by cyber attack

A cyber attack on French supermarkets forced refrigeration units to heat up to 50C overnight, spoiling fresh and frozen food worth millions of euros. More than 100 Coopérative U stores and at least 300 Intermarché and Netto locations were hit, with two Alsace supermarkets alone losing €270,000. Paris prosecutors have opened an investigation into what the European food commissioner called the weaponisation of food.
Food security requires more attention at all levels. Because the weaponisation of food has become a reality.
