Biohub, DOE, and NIH commit $1.8 billion to build AI-ready biological data
AI-ready biological data: $1.8B global commitment

Biohub, the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Institutes of Health, and partners including Google DeepMind, Isomorphic Labs, and Meta are investing $1.8 billion to generate open, standardized biological data for predictive AI models. The DOE will contribute over $500 million, NIH will coordinate existing datasets, and the partners will create multi-modal datasets to build virtual cell models, accelerating disease research and treatment.
An accurate predictive model of biology could dramatically accelerate scientific discovery by enabling scientists to perform experiments digitally. The insights that come from this could unlock a far greater understanding of disease and open up completely new paths for cures.
