Arcadeia - Self-hosted media library with animated video previews

Show HN: Arcadeia – A self-hosted media library with animated video previews

Arcadeia is an open-source, self-hosted photo and video library that lets you browse, search, and manage your personal media in a web browser. Its standout feature is dynamic thumbnails that automatically preview key moments in videos, so you can recognize a clip without opening it. You can search filenames and descriptions, optionally transcribe spoken words locally, connect network storage, upload via drag and drop, and play videos in your browser with on-the-fly transcoding. Built for self-hosters with personal media archives, Arcadeia runs on your own server and is licensed under AGPL-3.0. Try the live demo or deploy with Docker.

Find the video you remember, even when you forgot its filename.

    Been a while since I've seen an apache configuration.

    Curious about this part though:

    ErrorLog /proc/1/fd/2

    CustomLog /proc/1/fd/1 extended

    What's that for?

    # ls -l /proc/1/fd/{1,2}

    lrwx------ 1 root root 64 /proc/1/fd/1 -> /dev/null

    lrwx------ 1 root root 64 /proc/1/fd/2 -> /dev/null

    Literally just built this with claude this week to handle all outputs of my GPU generating videos and images

    I'm the maintainer of Arcadeia, an open-source media library you run on your own server.

    Its main feature is dynamic thumbnails: videos preview key moments automatically while you browse, so you can recognize a clip without opening each file. It also supports search, favorites, uploads, network storage and browser playback with transcoding.

    It's licensed under AGPL-3.0 and intended for local or trusted network use. It doesn't include built-in authentication for public deployment.

    I'd appreciate feedback on two things: do the animated thumbnails help you find clips, and where does the installation guide get in your way?
