Two Raleigh Vektars Donated for Restoration, Fulfilling a 30-Year Dream

I finally got my hands on two Raleigh Vektars, the 1985 computerized BMX with a digital speedometer, radio, and sound effects. Donated by Ally the Retrohunter, they're rusty and yellowed but salvageable. I plan to restore them, possibly repainting one frame to the black version I always wanted, and will document each stage—from cleaning to electronics repair—in this blog series.

You could describe it as a high tech computerised BMX with built-in digital speedometer, radio and sound effects. You could describe as a Raleigh Burner with a plastic shell. You could describe it as Street Hawk for kids. Or you could just describe it as perhaps the most awesome looking BMX ever made.
