A friend gave me a DIRECTV HR54-700 Genie DVR. I exploited a boot-plugin bug to get persistent root, removed the satellite blocker, and reused the Broadcom decoder and WebKit UI. The final box boots on its own, joins Wi-Fi, and plays Jellyfin media via the DIRECTV remote. No dish, no helper PC.

No signing key. No forged signature. The loader just disagreed with itself about which file it had approved.
