After acquiring 10 identical Android 6.0.1 phones for an SMS gateway project, the author rediscovered the joy of lightweight, self-built apps on a degoogled OS. But when trying to publish a text editor on the Play Store, Google rejected it with an NSFW screenshot of an unrelated app, then rejected the appeal without explanation. The author now plans to stick with F-Droid and itch.io, warning that relying on Google is a bad idea.
