Microsoft has dropped the Copilot+ branding from its new Surface laptops, a little over two years after launching the label to highlight local AI capabilities. Surface CVP Brett Ostrum confirmed the new devices still meet the hardware requirements, including the 40+ TOPS NPU threshold, but no longer carry the controversial branding. The move follows a disastrous launch and poor sales, with Copilot+ PCs accounting for less than 10% of laptop shipments in Q3 2024.
