The Bayeux Tapestry's British Museum exhibition is sold out through 2026, but a full-size Victorian replica in Reading offers a free alternative. Created by Elizabeth Wardle and the Leek Embroidery Society in 1886, it's displayed at Reading Museum with brighter colors and a unique final panel. The author details its history and scenes, noting the replica's embroiderers sewed their names and added shorts to a nude figure.
History is told by the victors so everything here is attempting to validate William's claims, indeed the entire 70 metres is essentially a massive piece of Norman propaganda.

That fanfic ending of the Bayeux Tapestry in Reading is an obvious Victorian fabrication. The original depicts the c-base space station crashing on earth. It can be viewed in Berlin:

I saw this. It was done by Victorian embroiderers, and was amazing, but the part I remember is one of the incidental characters. In the original, he was quite conspicuously nude; in the reproduction he was given a pair of shorts.
