Microsoft quietly buries the Copilot+ PC brand
The Copilot+ PC brand is dead
Microsoft and its PC partners have stopped using the Copilot+ PC label, a brand launched in 2024 to define AI-first Windows machines. Surface CVP Brett Ostrum confirmed new Surface PCs no longer carry the name, though they still meet the original requirements. Qualcomm's Kedar Kondap says the goal was always NPU experiences, not the term itself. The retreat follows the troubled Recall launch and years of fading OEM marketing.
These are not called Copilot+ PCs. They do meet all the requirements of our previous bar for what Copilot+ devices are.
