Johannes Doerfert, a prolific LLVM contributor and OpenMP target offloading code owner, passed away on September 17, 2026, at 36 after a battle with cancer. He designed the Attributor framework, advanced GPU offloading across NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel hardware, and mentored Google Summer of Code students for years. A fixture at LLVM Developers' Meetings, he spoke at 11 meetings over 11 years. Donations to the LLVM Foundation in his memory will be matched up to $50K.
