The Cutting Room Floor's sysadmin banned a Claude-code user agent, triggering a Twitter meltdown and then a massive DDoS. The attack saturated the server's network, forcing Linode to null-route the connection. Even a backup status page was knocked offline. The post details the timeline, Linode's automated mitigation, and the frustration of waiting for the attack to subside.
There was so much traffic that we had to turn it off because it was interfering with our hardware. When the traffic subsides, it will turn back on automatically. There is nothing you can do.

It's a shame that so many niche websites have no other choice than moving to Cloudflare.

It's kind of sad that we've gotten to the point where if someone decides they want to fuck with you, there's nothing you can do besides using a service like Cloudflare. I wonder how much cumulative time the "Checking your browser..." screen has wasted.
