Making portable my unportable transputer C compiler
Oscar Toledo G. found a 1998 floppy disk containing his transputer C compiler and set out to compile it on a modern 64-bit MacBook Air M1. The code, inherited from Small-C, used int and pointers interchangeably, lacked FILE* and prototypes, and stored pointers in int arrays. Through struct rewrites, backporting from his Am29000 compiler, and translating error messages, he reduced the errors to 25, then 8, then 5.
But now it is impossible to convert a 64-bit pointer into a 32-bit integer. A design change is required!
