Make Math Automatic with Mathy
After years of daily Math Academy practice, I built Mathy, a free iOS and web app for drilling math facts and procedures to automaticity. It uses FSRS spaced repetition to schedule practice, generates deterministic problems, and tracks fluency over time. The counterintuitive goal: as topics become automatic, recommended sessions stretch weeks apart. The core app took days, but polishing it took weeks.
The gist of Mathy is counterintuitive: If it works, you’ll use it less.
