Dan Luu argues that relying on LLMs without critical thinking—acting as a "meat proxy" or "for loop"—is a losing strategy for employees. Even if LLMs improve enough to produce average-quality software, companies could simply run the LLM in a loop and lay off the human. He points to examples of broken software from people who outsourced thinking to LLMs, and warns that the productivity gains are often illusory.
