I built Hush, a Mac menu bar app that generates brown noise and a speech blocker in real time, fully offline. It solves the problem of noise generators living in browser tabs, where I'd get distracted before focusing. Right-click to start or stop, left-click for controls. It's fast, CPU-friendly, and Apple notarized. Pay what you want, source on GitHub under MIT.

I found the challenge was never finding these sounds. There are a myriad of websites that will quickly generate noise for you. It was that they lived in a browser tab.

    There's a sneaky menu bar background noise app already built into MacOS. You can add "Hearing" to the menu bar (or control center) from settings, and then use that to enable "Background Sounds"
