The biggest dinosaurs couldn't sit on their eggs
Fossil eggshells from titanosaurs, the largest dinosaurs ever, have been found in cool, high-latitude Argentina. A new study in Royal Society Open Science reveals that these giants couldn't brood their volleyball-sized eggs without crushing them. Instead, microscopic pores in the eggshells indicate they buried their eggs in rotting vegetation, using microbial heat like modern crocodiles. This adaptability allowed them to nest in challenging environments far from the equator.
They're too big. The nest would be one big omelette.
