Houthi Cell Used Claude Code to Build Missile Guidance Software, Anthropic Says
Houthis Used Claude Code to Develop Missile Guidance Software: Anthropic
Anthropic's September threat report says a Yemen-based cell ran parallel Claude Code sessions to develop guidance software for a guided rocket, a ballistic missile with over 2,000 km range, and a hypersonic glide vehicle concept called R2000. The group test-fired a rocket, analyzed the failure with Claude within hours, and compiled an offline toolkit before their accounts were banned. Anthropic found no evidence an operational weapon was fielded.
You are not seeing someone in a comic book kind of way say, 'Hey, I want to build a biological weapon to kill everybody.' It's an incredibly nuanced situation.
