Glyph Immersive: A Digital Playground That Traces the Grid Back to Andean Weavers
Glyph Immersive is an open-source tool by Kate Ander that lets you experiment with grids, corners, edges, and spacing. It connects digital design to ancient traditions—Andean weaving, Arabic calligraphy, kolam patterns, Hangul—and to 20th-century experiments by Bauhaus, Wim Crouwel, Gego, and Lance Wyman. The project argues that constraint, not endless possibility, is what sparks great art and ideas.
Technology has continued to satiate our desires and present new possibilities - at times numbing life’s necessary friction: the constraints and discomfort that produce great art and ideas.
