Delidded Intel I9-14900KS CT Scan
LTT Labs CT-scanned a delidded Intel Core i9-14900KS, revealing the CPU's internal structure in stunning detail. The interactive scan shows the silicon layout, including E-cores, P-cores, and cache, as well as the rear PCB components like capacitors that handle power delivery. The 12-hour scan used a 120 kV Neptune scanner with a copper filter to harden the X-ray beam.
The capacitors on the rear of the PCB - and even designed directly into the silicon of the die - will supply energy for higher frequency and faster power spikes.

I was not expecting the CT scan to be able to identify the cores within the die.
But now I think about it, the metal layers (especially traces carrying power) are probably think enough, and different enough to show up. And even just power distribution is enough for the shape of the cores to be visible.
