I Built a PCB Business Card That Lights Up When You Tap It

A hardware enthusiast designed a circuit-board business card with an NFC chip and a batteryless LED that lights up Charizard's tail when tapped by a phone. The card harvests power from the phone's NFC field, but writing the URL to the chip proved tricky: standard iPhone apps rejected the blank NTAG I²C Plus chip. He wrote a custom Core NFC app to send raw commands, successfully programming the cards. The project highlights the magic of powering objects wirelessly and the software challenges lurking at the end of hardware projects.
