CERN's accelerators fall silent as the lab begins its long upgrade to HiLumi

All CERN accelerators now on the road to HiLumi

CERN's injector complex and Antimatter Factory delivered their final beams, marking the end of Run 3 and the start of Long Shutdown 3 (LS3). The LHC shut down in June, and now the entire accelerator chain will undergo extensive maintenance and upgrades to meet the demands of the High-Luminosity LHC era. The complex will restart in stages from 2028, with HiLumi LHC coming online in mid-2030.
