Open Battery Information: Unlock locked BMSes and save batteries

Open Battery Information (OBI) is an open-source project that helps you read and reset the Battery Management System (BMS) of common batteries, such as those in power tools. Manufacturers often lock the BMS after a fault to protect the device, but false triggers or temporary issues can lead to perfectly good batteries being thrown away. OBI provides Arduino firmware and a browser-based tool (OBI-1) to read battery data and clear fault codes, extending battery life and reducing e-waste.

There is always a chance for false triggering of this protection, or the fault could have been temporary or even repaired.

This uses 1-wire protocol and is very specific for Makita power tool batteries.

Other battery types, like laptop batteries (uses I2C) are not supported.

This info should really be in the top-level README

I love how the "read this before you start" safety warning is about two pagedowns from the shiny "Get started" button.

looks neat, read the page and i still have no idea what it does. arduino project with a few resistors, cool. something about reading BMS. which ones, which protocol(s), how does it get wired up?

fed all this to the robot to find that it's targeted at Makita battery packs. the word "makita" never once appears in the front page and it seems like a pretty important detail.
