lambdock: A Wayland-native dock with a Lisp heart
Quest for the Eternal Dock – Lambdock

After years of failed prototypes in Python, Rust, and JavaScript, developer jjba23 built lambdock, a Wayland-native desktop dock written in C and GTK4 with an embedded GNU Guile Scheme engine. It offers fluid physics animations, live REPL control, multi-dock orchestration, and hot-reloading configuration. Now packaged in Guix and Nixpkgs, lambdock brings Emacs-style extensibility to the desktop dock.
By hosting libguile directly inside C's GTK4 main loop, lambdock achieves what I consider the holy grail, much like GNU Emacs does: infinite extensibility, uncompromising native performance for rendering and animation, and metaprogramming superpowers of Lisp for user configuration and live REPL inspection.
