How I Built a Seamless Aetheryte Radio from FFXIV's Game Assets

Creating the Aetheryte Radio

After six years of looping the same YouTube video for FFXIV's aetheryte crystal ambience, one engineer finally extracted the actual game audio and built a seamless web player. Using XIVLauncher's SoundFilter plugin to identify the exact asset, he recreated the experience with the Web Audio API—looping the hum perfectly and randomly scheduling whir sounds with randomized pitch and volume, just like in the game. The result is a gapless, resource-light ambience generator that runs in the browser.

I literally ctrl+a'd all 4000 .wav files and pressed the left and right arrow keys to move back and forth within the large mpv playlist, looking for the aetheryte noise.
