Students Prefer Gemini Over ChatGPT and Claude for AI Essays in Blind Tests

StudyArena analyzed 6,851 blind student votes and found that for college essay writing, Gemini leads with a 39.6% choice rate, followed by Claude at 31.8% and ChatGPT/OpenAI at 29.2%. The study also reveals that longer responses tend to win, and higher reasoning settings don't improve writing quality. Each provider excels in specific tasks: Gemini for feedback, Claude for planning, and ChatGPT for research. The article recommends a workflow where students write the raw material themselves and use AI for diagnosis, not ghostwriting.
