Electric shock gloves already used by police in Bellevue, Omaha

Electric shock gloves, recently announced for use by ICE agents, have been deployed by police departments in Bellevue and Omaha for years. Omaha bought 40 pairs for school resource officers, who used them twice this school year, while Bellevue has used them for about three and a half years. The gloves, made by Compliant Technologies, deliver electric pulses to the skin and are considered a lesser use of force than tasers. Both departments have policies restricting their use on vulnerable individuals and require justification for use on passively resisting subjects.

It's all about reducing risk, reducing injury and gaining compliance in the shortest time possible.
