sce - Minimalist console editor with no highlighting, plugins, or modes

sce (Simple Console Editor) is a minimalist plain-text editor written in Python, designed for quick and efficient editing in the terminal. It has no syntax highlighting, plugins, or modes, focusing on simplicity and speed. Despite its minimalism, it includes powerful features like search, replace, selection, copy/paste, and a unique pipe command that lets you run external commands on your file or selection. It also comes with a browser-like pager for interactive filtering and selection. With no dependencies beyond Python and curses, it runs on any POSIX system and can be deployed as a single-file executable. Ideal for developers and sysadmins who want a no-frills editor that just works.

This is my personal plain text editor that I have initially written in a couple of hot summer days of 2008. Over the years I have made minor enhancements and stability improvements, plus an initial implementation of a browser-like pager. I have used it since the first days for all my edits, especially for source code, scripting, configuration, in all languages from C to Go, Python to Scheme, Bash to Erlang, HTML / CSS / JavaScript, LaTeX to CommonMark, JSON to XML, all except Java.
